This editions are from the 1950s with Niinikangas upholstery. Niinikangas is a Finnish textile that reflects midcentury material culture. In Finnish, kangas simply means 'cloth' or 'fabric', and Niinikangas refers to a specific woven upholstery material used by Artek in this period. The textured weave offers a tactile contrast to the smooth birch and was chosen for durability and everyday comfort in public interiors and homes alike. Niinikangas upholstery is rare today, prized for its authentic patina and connection to Artek's material heritage.
